In this unlikely setting, an urban canyon, this 5K Run and Walk winds through downtown Chicago, creating a rare opportunity for athletes to feel the pavement of city streets beneath their feet. The finish line offers a unique reward for all participants: a big block party, in full swing, with top-name, live musical talent and plenty of beer and food. Sponsors will be offered sampling and display opportunities at both the finish line and the block party.

The finish line area funnels into the Block Party, which opens just as the 'start gun' for the race goes off. Non-runners are welcome at the Block Party, to enjoy the food and beer and live music. A top-name regional band performs until the last participants leave, at around 10PM.

Beneficiary - Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

The purpose of this event is to raise funds for Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. This residential child-care facility offers abused, abandoned and neglected children hope and constructive means towards forming a healthy life and future. Nine residential homes provide Mercy's children with a healthy, nurturing environment. Mercy Home's children receive love, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, moral values and the life skills necessary to live independently. Mercy Home is funded by private donations.

Chip-Timed Run
This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!

The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.

After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the Bastille Day 5K Run & Walk.

Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
