Bastille Day 5K & 8K Run

Celebrating its 34th year in 2015, run/walk registrants are encouraged to get creative with French-themed apparel, and that country's blue, white and red flag color scheme. Following the run/walk, participants will be treated to a free block party across the street from the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum that features food, refreshments and entertainment. Proceeds will again benefit Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

Beneficiary - Mercy Home for Boys and Girls


The purpose of this event is to raise funds for Mercy Home for Boys & Girls. This residential child-care facility offers abused, abandoned and neglected children hope and constructive means towards forming a healthy life and future. Nine residential homes provide Mercy's children with a healthy, nurturing environment. Mercy Home's children receive love, shelter, clothing, education, medical care, moral values and the life skills necessary to live independently. Mercy Home is funded by private donations.

Chip-Timed Run
This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Bib Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. The chip tag should be NOT be removed from the bib. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.

Gear Check
Gear check is available from 5:30pm to 9:30pm in the event site. Please note, we cannot be responsible for lost or stolen items!

Post-Race Party
The Quality of Life Health and Fitness Expo begins at 6pm and coincides with the post-race party that ends at 10:30pm, located adjacent to the start/finish line. Famos owns Famos DJ and entertainment company in Chicago (High energy, fun corporate entertainment and special occasions).
