Bastille Day 5K & 8K Run, Walk & Block Party

Bastille Day 5K & 8K Run, Walk & Block Party

Date: Thursday, July 10
Time: 8K: 7:15 p.m. | 5K: 7:30 p.m. Start
Location: Lincoln Park (Cannon & Fullerton) | Chicago
Beneficiary: Mercy Home for Boys and Girls

Calling all Francophones! All things French will be celebrated at this popular mid-summer event in the heart of Lincoln Park. For a quick history lesson, this annual jubilee commemorates the French Revolution. It began with the storming of the Bastille, the Paris medieval fortress and prison, in 1789. (Bastille Day is officially July 14.)

Celebrating its 33rd year in 2014, run/walk registrants are encouraged to get creative with French-themed apparel, and that country's blue, white and red flag color scheme. Following the run/walk, participants will be treated to a free block party inside the Peggy Notebaert Nature Museum that features food, refreshments and entertainment. Proceeds will again benefit Chicago's Mercy Home for Boys & Girls.

Chip-Timed Run
This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!

The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.

After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the Bastille Day 5K Run & Walk.

Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
