Taste of Lincoln Avenue

Taste of Lincoln Avenue

Date: Sat/Sun, July 24-25, 2010
Time: Noon to 10 p.m. both days
Location: N. Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton & Wrightwood | Chicago
Beneficiary: Wrightwood Neighbors Association
Taste of Lincoln Avenue, one of Chicago's largest and most popular summer street fest, returns for its 27th year on Saturday and Sunday, July 24-25. Highlights include more than 40 music acts on five stages, a kids' carnival and plenty of food vendors.

In addition to a bevy of local/regional pop, rock and blues acts and popular local cover bands, among the headliners on the music stages will be Minnesota alt-rockers Soul Asylum, Chicago roots rockers The Freddy Jones Band, soul/R&B legend Otis Clay, and acclaimed Australian harmonica/didgeridoo whiz Harper.

Other Taste of Lincoln Avenue highlights include ...
  • The ever-popular free kids' carnival from Noon-6:00 p.m. each day on Altgeld between Lincoln and Halsted (entrance on Halsted) that features stage entertainment, inflatables, a petting zoo and pony rides.
  • A wine garden at Lill Street and Lincoln.
Proceeds benefit the Wrightwood Neighbors Association which, in turn, makes grants to charitable and educational organizations serving the local community.

Beneficiary - Wrightwood Neighbors Association
The Wrightwood Neighbors Association (WNA) is constantly involved in many issues that directly impact life in the community. WNA works with aldermen and City agencies to help provide residents with the services possible, and to make sure that Wrightwood remains a nice place to work, live and play.

The WNA is a part of the Lincoln Park Conservation Association (LPCA), the umbrella group for other neighborhood associations in this area. The collective goal of this group is to preserve the unique character of the mid-north community.
