On Saturday, May 22, 2010, the Alivio Medical Center presents its 20th annual Alivio Y Salud - Run for Health: USATF certified CARA registered 5K Run, 5K Kids' Run, as well as a 2 Mile walk and Kids' Dash. This is one of the largest Hispanic amateur athletic events held in a Chicago neighborhood.

The Alivio Medical Center, located in the heart of the Pilsen community at 2355 South Western Avenue, was built specifically to address the health care needs of the uninsured and working poor. In 1999, the medical center opened a second facility at 966 W. 21st Street to increase service to the continuously growing Hispanic community. Alivio serves the Pilsen area as well as the surrounding communities of Little Village, Back of the Yards, Bridgeport, McKinley Park, Amrour Square, Archer Heights and Heart of Chicago. 87 percent of the patients cared for by Alivio are under the 200 percent federal poverty level.

The event was created by the Alivio Medical Center to help establish role models for young people as well as educate families about the health benefits of exercise and proper nutrition.
