Rockit Burger Bar Voted 2012 Burger 'Fave'
... And Cortland's Garage's Burgers Picked as 'Critics' Choice'
|
Congratulations go out to Wrigleyville's Rockit Burger Bar. The first-time Burger Fest vendor
took first place honors for making visitors' "favorite" burgers in text voting at the 2012 fest.
Placing second was Stanley's Kitchen & Tap (Lincoln Park and the West Loop). Placing third
was Lincoln Park's Butcher & the Burger.
Winning the Critics' Choice Award for best burger was another first-time fest vendor: Cortland's Garage, in Chicago's Bucktown neighborhood. The Critics' Choice Award debuted in 2012 and was judged by local culinary experts.

NEW! The Burger Joint
There's nothing pretentious about this popular River North quick-serve with its down-to-earth menu that includes burgers, gyros (including burgers topped with gyros!) and seven specialty fries that include renditions made with feta, blue and Merkts cheddar cheese. The Burger Joint's funky setting is done up with rustic woodwork and photo murals of Chicagos skyline and El trains like those that pass by on the nearby Brown Line track. Among TBJ's six hand-crafted patty offerings are the "Wild Cowboy," spicy bean, "Hangover," Sonoma and "Hot Mess" burgers.
|
Butcher & The Burger
A "Dash of Old-Fashion Butcher Shop With a Pinch of Culinary Artistry" is the way this award-winning eatery in Lincoln Park describes itself, and that's an equally perfect characterization of their breakfast, lunch and dinner offerings. Breakfast burger? Check. Salmon, elk or bison burger? You bet. And let's be sure to mention their spices, toppings and bun selections. B & B's mixes both gourmet and traditional burger fare at this Armitage Avenue emporium whose creators/founders have stellar culinary reputations.
|
Cortland's Garage
Awesome is the only way to describe this Bucktown's eatery's menu! From an incredible burger offering to sandwiches, wraps and much more, this hot food spot (with its sports-centric sensibility) is rockin'. It's also one of a trio of uniquely-named city bars & grills (the others are located in Wicker Park and Wrigleyville) that serve up award-winning burger menus.
|
Goose Island Brewpubs
If there's a brewery synonymous with Chicago, it's without a doubt Goose Island. Their popular Goose Island Brewpubs, with locations in Lincoln Park and Wrigleyville, not only showcase their acclaimed selection of ales and lagers but offer up a tasty burger and sandwich menu as well. Pepper crusted, vegetarian, prime beef and turkey burgers are just a few of their sumptuous offerings.
|
Hamburger Mary's
A popular fixture on Clark Street in the heart of Chicago's bustling Andersonville neighborhood, its not surprising that the "Hamburger" side of Mary's features more than 20 specialty burgers, all with no growth hormones or antibiotics. A tiny sampling includes pizza, Hawaiian, Cajun and guacamole. There's even a tuna burger as well as a "Bloody Mary" burger to complement their eclectic offering of ales and cocktails.
|
NEW! Indie Burger
Located on Belmont just a few steps from Sheffield, Indie Burger prides itself as being eco-friendly and organic in every sense of those words. From grass-fed beef from local farms and organic free range chicken to chairs made from recycled soda bottles and refurbished church pews, caring about the environment is in Indie's DNA. Everything on their menu says green: from the burgers (including one made from chickpeas) to soups, sides, salads and sweets, this Lakeview diner serves it up organic, local and delicious.
|
Mrs. Murphy & Sons Irish Bistro
This popular Lincoln Avenue eatery in the North Center neighborhood opened its doors in 2005 with a long tradition of hospitality as its foundation. The brainchild of the late Jim Murphy, owner of the legendary Wrigleyville bar Murphy's Bleachers, this family-owned restaurant brings an eclectic Irish, British and Scottish cuisine (including burgers!) to an authentic Dublin bistro setting.
|
Rockit Burger Bar
Located just a stone's throw from Wrigley Field, this patty-centric outpost of River North's iconic Rockit Bar & Grill serves up a truly eclectic burger offering everything from Bourbon BBQ and pizza burgers to the "Johnny Apple" and more traditional black angus. And one burger choice features a salami topping! They also serve up four tasty options for fries: sweet potato, Yukon waffles, truffle oil and curly.
|
Select Cut Steakhouse
Opening its doors in 1994 on Halsted Street in Lakeview, Select Cut quickly earned a reputation as a friendly, casual neighborhood eatery known for its top quality steaks and burgers (including "steakburgers") at non-downtown prices. Seafood and ribs are also on the menu. Family-owned and operated, the owners take pride in making sure every customer is pleasantly satisfied with their broad menu offerings at each visit.
|
Stanley's Kitchen & Tap
Lincoln Park may be the flagship bricks-and-mortar Stanley location, but you'll also find their acclaimed "StanBurger" at both O'Hare Airport (at Stanley's Blackhawks Bar) and at two grills (The Broadcast and The Sheffield) inside Wrigley Field. In fact, the StanBurger is the "Official Burger of the Chicago Cubs"!
Voted the "Fave Burger" by visitors at 2011's Burger Fest, Stanley's takes pride in their American home-style cooking with a Southern twist.
|
NEW! Square Bar & Grill
"Come for Grub. Stay for Drinks." That's the tagline this hot spot on the 2800 block of West Belmont has on its website. But for fans of Square Bar's eclectic food & drink offerings, burgers are a star attraction. From its namesake "Big Square" burger to the char-broiled "Volcano" burger stuffed with a cheese blend on a pretzel bun, and the popular "American Dream" burger with smoked apple-wood bacon and Swiss cheese that's packed between a grilled cheese sandwich, organic microbrews might be a huge Square Bar draw, but it's their patties that have customers coming back for more!
|
NEW! Twenty Five Degrees
This River North "Burgers, Wine & Liquor Bar" (with its origins, as well as outposts, on the West Coast) is a mashup of groovy and classy and funky all rolled into one. From their shakes, malts, floats and salads to their burger selections (ground sirloin, turkey, tuna and veggie), Twenty Five Degrees has it all. Then there's the decision-making from some 15 sauces and 15 cheeses choices that is guaranteed to put any burger lover on the road to culinary heaven!
