Park Ridge Pizza Fest

Park Ridge Pizza Fest

Date: Friday & Saturday, September 7-8
Time: Friday 5:00 p.m. to 11p.m. | Saturday Noon to 11:00 p.m.
Location: S. Prospect Ave & Summit Ave. | Park Ridge, IL
The cozy and picturesque near-northwest suburb of Park Ridge will celebrate its hometown charms with saucy toppings, cool tunes and more at the inaugural Park Ridge Pizza Fest. Presented by the Park Ridge Chamber of Commerce, this post-Labor Day community celebration will take place in downtown Park Ridge in the shadow of the art deco movie palace that is the Pickwick Theatre.

In addition to pies (Caponie's Trattoria and Beggars Pizza are among the vendors) and a kids' area with inflatables and crafts, Friday night's music stage headliner is legendary Brit rockers Foghat while on Saturday it's world-acclaimed guitarist Daryl Stuermer of Genesis/Phil Collins fame.

Entertainment
Foghat - Friday Night
When it comes to classic '70s British music acts, you'd be hard-pressed to come up with a more iconic band than Foghat. Since forming in 1971, the blues-rockers have had eight gold, one platinum and one double-platinum records. Among their classic hits: "Slow Ride," "Drivin' Wheel," and "Stone Blue." Although the band's lineup has changed over the years, they remain wildly popular among fans of classic rock, and they've attracted a new generation of followers. Even today their music is being performed by contestants on such TV shows as American Idol.

Daryl Stuermer - Saturday Night
Virtuoso lead guitarist Daryl Stuermer, of the super-group Genesis and Phil Collins, has been touring the world to sold-out crowds since 1978, creating the signature guitar sound of the Phil Collins mega hits "In the Air Tonight" and "Easy Lover." The Milwaukee native also co-wrote Collins' 1989 Grammy Award-winning single "Something Happened on the Way to Heaven." Stuermer continues to write music for his eight solo albums of original music and cover his favorite Genesis vocals and instrumentals along the way. His band fuses his unique renditions, creating an unforgettable evening that reinvents the Genesis experience.

Participating Pizza Vendors
Beggars Pizza (www.beggarspizza.com)
With several Chicagoland locations, Beggars Pizza has been serving up a delicious array of pizzas and Italian foods for more than 30 years. From the time Angelo Garetto opened the door to his first customer in 1976, people have been enjoying Beggars. Today, Larry and Peter Garetto (Angelos two sons) work hard to carry on the quality name and offerings. The Garetto brothers strive to provide a family style atmosphere in their restaurants, and a positive influence in the communities of their stores.

Caponie's Trattoria (www.caponiespizza.com)
This family-owned eatery on Chicago's northwest side (7412 W. Irving Park) has been winning rave reviews from food critics since opening their doors in 1996. They've even been featured on WTTW's "Check Please." Using Old World family recipes from their youth, owners Tony and Dan have created a destination for aficionados of authentic Italian cooking and an eclectic menu of wood burning brick oven pizzas, pasta dishes, specialty entrees, salads, antipasti, paninis and more.

Panino's Park Ridge (www.paninospizza.com)
The culinary training of Panino's owners began early as boys in Chicago. They started cooking on weekends at Italian restaurants owned by their family and friends. As young men Gino and Lenny Rago continued in the food industry, working at a fine Italian food distributor where they learned even more about Italian food products. Years later, and confident with their skills, Gino and Lenny opened the first Paninos Pizzeria in Evanston in 1999. This was followed by equally popular locations in Park Ridge and Chicago's north side. From Day One, Panino's pizza and menu offerings have earned rave reviews from both customers and critics alike.
