It's the next best thing to piloting a plane! Runners/walkers, families and friends will get a front-row seat on the tarmac at this year's O'Hare 5K on the Runway. It's a one-of-a kind opportunity to experience a day on a landing strip at one of the world's busiest airports.

Presented by United Airlines and the Chicago Department of Aviation as part of the city's ongoing O'Hare Modernization Program, proceeds benefit the Wounded Warrior Project serving military vets.

The morning features a 5K fun run, 5K fun walk and 5K chip-timed run as well as activities for kids. Following the run/walk, a "Community Day" party will be held with food, entertainment and an opportunity to have photos taken in front of a United Airlines plane.

And don't worry: O'Hare 5K on the Runway features free parking to make your airport visit a landing and take-off pleasure.
