It is often said that runners either 'eat to run' or 'run to eat'. Running is one of the best and most efficient ways to burn calories. For every mile a runner logs, he/she burns approximately 100 calories.
Because of their calorie-burning hobby, runners can afford to gorge themselves every once in a while. The Wacky 5K Run gives you a unique opportunity to do just that - on snack foods - totally guilt free!
The Wacky 5K Run celebrates National Snack Food Month by hosting a huge, post-race, indoor buffet of snack food. This sumptuous, tantalizing spread of both healthy and not-so-healthy snacks is set up on tables formed in a big horseshoe. Participants are given a goody bag, and encouraged to fill it from the bountiful selection of snacks ranging from sweet to salty to healthy. This snack food fantasy buffet has something to satisfy most every craving, and every participant is encouraged to check their guilt at the door.
This unique running race, one of the first of Chicago's spring season, is now going into its 19th year, and has become a favorite of Chicago's running community.

This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!
The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.
After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the Wacky 5K Run.
Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
