Be Seen ... Be Green is the theme of 9th annual St. Paddy's Day 5K along Chicago's scenic lakefront. Held three days before official St. Patrick's Day (March 17), this popular annual event also celebrates the beginning of spring. In addition, a "Leprechaun Leap" -- a fun-filled kids' dash -- will be held for the young ones.
To celebrate the Emerald Isle, run/walk participants are encouraged to use their imaginations and don green attire as there will be awards for most innovative garb.
An estimated 1,500 enthusiasts are expected to participate in this iconic annual event. And following the run/walk, a nearby tavern will toast the day (and run/walk) with food, drink, awards, prizes and more.

This year's event features the latest in timing technology: The Chronotrack Disposable Chip! The computer chip comes attached to a plastic strip that is already adhered to your bib #. No need to wait until race day to pick up your chip - it's already on your bib when you go to a Pre-Registration/Packet Pick-Up event!
The chip tag should be peeled from the bib on race day and attached to your shoelaces - adhesive tabs and your shoelaces keep the tag in place. You must cross the special mats at the start and finish lines in order for your time to be recorded.
After crossing the finish line, the tag is your's to dispose of or to keep as a souvenir of your experience at the St. Paddy's Day 5K Run.
Download this document instructions on how to attach the tag to your shoes on race day.
