In the mood for a dragon dance? And who doesn’t love a parade?
With the Chinese New Year (aka Lunar New Year or Spring Festival) kicking off in mid-February to celebrate centuries-old traditions including honoring deities and ancestors as well as family and good fortune, one doesn’t want to miss this colorful annual celebration.
The parade steps off at Wentworth and 24th Street then proceeds north to 22nd Street (aka Cermak) in the heart of Chicago’s Chinatown neighborhood.
With 2018 designated the Year of the Dog, the parade promises plenty of fun for all ages. It also features marching bands, colorful floats, the traditional lion dance plus a special appearance by Ronald McDonald.
