Chicago’s sweet summer vibe will be in full swing when Taste of Lincoln Avenue, one of the Windy City’s most iconic (and pioneering) street fests, returns for its 35th fun-filled year to the heart of the Lincoln Park/DePaul neighborhood.

Stretching over several city blocks and side streets on the eponymous strip of Lincoln Avenue between Fullerton and Wrightwood, highlights include nearly 20 music acts on two stages, a stand-alone “Kids’ Carnival” area, plus plenty of food, libations and arts & crafts.

NEW in 2018: Chocolate Fest! The non-profit For the Love of Chocolate Foundation (www.fortheloveofchocolatefoundation.org) will team up with the Wrightwood Neighbors Association to present the inaugural Chocolate Fest at Taste of Lincoln Avenue.

Held in a tented area, the fest’s main event will be afternoon tastings where visitors (with the purchase of a daily pass) can sample up to 10 yummy treats including brownies, truffles, bonbons, double chocolate chip cookies and coffee and toffee candies. Other cacao confections will also be sold at Chocolate Fest.

In addition, adults have options to sign up for ticketed afternoon wine and/or whiskey tastings in tented areas. With the purchase of a tasting pass they can either sample up to 12 wine varietals or 12 expertly-curated whiskies.

In total, the fest features more than 70 merchants, artists, community group and food/drink booths. The always-popular Kids’ Carnival, held from Noon-6:00 p.m. each afternoon on Montanabetween Lincoln and Sheffield (free entrance from Sheffield), features inflatables, art activities galore, pony rides, kiddie carnival rides and much more.
